New green line laboratory equipment developed by Telstar for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, hospital and research centers will be promoted at Expoquimia (Barcelona 2017, 2-6 October). The company will be exhibiting laminar flow ecocabinets, biological safety cabinets, laboratory freeze-dryers and ultra-low temperature freezers designed and manufactured for research and formulation using in-house freeze-drying, clean air and cold storage technologies. Developed under sustainable production, the equipment combines energetic efficiency and eco-design technology including the latest developments in ergonomics adapted to work environment characteristics, process analysis, trials, and production requirements.

During Expoquimia, Telstar will be displaying the new range of laminar flow ecocabinetsAeolus, particularly suitable for handling non-pathogenic samples. This range of cabinets offer up to 35% less power consumption than the typical marketplace equivalent and are designed to provide protection for the product in an ISO 4 sterile environment. Aeolus integrates energy saving EC fans and an automatic airflow velocity control system, ensuring optimized protection levels. Aeolus offers an extremely low sound level, and up to 20% more sterile working area, whilst maintaining a compact external footprint.

In addition the company will display a range of high quality Class II Biological Safety Cabinets BioVanguard, designed to be used for high risk microbiological research and in highly toxic applications. They have low noise levels, minimal power consumption and low maintenance costs. This system has an integrated pre-filter stage which ensures low maintenance and long life of the HEPA filters. Along with the customized model, Telstar has developed a new standardized version of its high-end ecological biological safety cabinets designed for centers and laboratories which need to cover processes that, although demanding, are shaped by conventional and standard requirements. The result is a new, efficient, versatile solution that amongst other advantages, allows to be delivered in a short space of time.

Also related to the field of biological safety cabinets, the company will promote the Bio II Advance range which are more compact and optimize the usable work area in laboratories with limited space, especially in laboratories with low ceilings and where several piece of equipment need to be used in the same area. Intended for the laminar flow manipulation of microorganisms with biological risk levels 2 and 3, the innovative cabinet design offers a body 20% smaller than the market average and maintains, at the same time, standard work space.

Freeze-dryers & ultra-low temperature freezers

A new version 2.2 of compact and ecological ultra-low temperature freezers Igloo intended for clinical centers and research laboratories will also be introduced at Expoquimia. Redesigned to reach greater performance and efficiency levels in the sample preservation process, Igloo 2.2 incorporates a new design within the cooling system and improvements into its manufacturing process, allowing for increased productivity and lower operating temperatures. Besides other advantages, the new version of this exclusive storage system also features greater uniformity of temperature. With capacity to reach -86°C temperature, this equipment offers the lowest power consumption and low noise level (< 50 dB(A)) in a small footprint, which enables a more optimized freezer layout and the flexibility to adapt to any space.

Finally, the company will be exhibiting LyoBeta Mini at Expoquimia. It is the compact version of its pilot-scale freeze dryer specifically designed for applications in research and formulation to develop recipes for pharmaceutical freeze-drying processes. Designed in twin-vessel configuration, with an external condenser of capacity 6kg, this new model of pilot-scale freeze dryer (94cm x 76cm x 63cm) offers 0.18m2 of useful shelf surface area with temperature control from -55 to +70°C. A cascade refrigeration system using CFC-free refrigerants cools the shelves and will reduce the temperature of the condenser to -85°C.
