Open access to scientific research results has become a priority for institutions with competencies in science and technology. Recently, the UAB Digital Repository of Documents (DDD) has incorporated a collection of scientific articles published by the I3PT. The DDD is a tool that collects, manages, disseminates and preserves the scientific production of the different research centers associated with the university, among others.

This collection, which will be updated in the repository through its own portal (Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute - I3PT), is organized, open and interoperable, key aspects to ensure its accessibility. In addition, the tool allows access to publications by researcher, year and subject, as well as extract usage statistics and consult the most viewed.

As stated in the portal itself, its objectives are:

  • Offer the university community a platform for publishing their work in full text and open access.
  • Increase the visibility of the authors and the institution.

However, this decision raises strictly legislative issues. At the national level, through the Science Act of 2011 it undertakes to make open the results of those investigations financed through funds from the General State Budgets. At the European level, the program Horizon 2020 it also offers grants to all those researchers who open the results of their research (both publications and data).
