IDIBELL has presented an action plan in Human Resources for the accreditation of 'HR Excellence in Research' of the European Commission. It is a recognition of the commitment of the institution to develop a strategy for human resources for researchers, in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers adopted by the European Commission in 2005.

The board trustees of IDIBELL approved last December 10th the Action Plan for Human Resources strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) 2015-2018 aligning human resources objectives of the institution with the principles established by the 'European Charter for Researchers' and the 'Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers' of the European Commission.

The "HR Strategy for Researchers" supports research institutions and funding organisations in the implementation of the Charter & Code in their policies and practices. The concrete implementation of the Charter & Code by research institutions will render them more attractive to researchers looking for a new employer or for a host for their research project. Funding organisations implementing the Charter & Code principles will contribute to the attractiveness of their national research systems and to the attractiveness of the European Research Area more generally. The logo "HR Excellence in Research" will identify the institutions and organisations as providers and supporters of a stimulating and favourable working environment.

Action Plan IDIBELL

IDIBELL aims to recognize its researchers and workers and researchers from partner institutions Campus Bellvitge: Catalan Institute of Oncology, University Hospital of Bellvitge, Viladecans Hospital and University of Barcelona, as well as other staff as essential contributors to the IDIBELL success by offering a supportive, encouraging and challenging working environment that promotes equal opportunities, ethical integrity and work-life balance.

On August 1st 2013 IDIBELL joined the European Charter and Code and a process was initiated to design an action plan that would improve the alignment of policies and actions in human resources of the institution with the 40 principles in these documents.

During the months of May and June 2014 an internal analysis of the institution was performed by staff surveys IDIBELL and sectoral meetings. Once the diagnosis was done, it was created a working group consisting of representatives of the different labor groups that make up the IDIBELL to draft the HRS4R Action Plan 2015-2018.

This document has as main purpose impact in the European funding landscape (H2020); position the IDIBELL as a provider of a stimulating and favourable work place to prospective research talent, and establish a comprehensive and coherent HR strategy adopting international best practices and highquality standards.

The Action Plan has been approved by the direction of IDIBELL, the internal and external scientific committees and patterns of the institution. Once the plan would be approved by the European Commission, an internal monitoring committee be appointed to assess the correct implementation of the plan and its self-assessment annually. Finally, the plan also will undergo an external evaluation by the European Commission.
