Telstar will promote its latest range of high quality Class II Biological Safety Cabinets Biovanguard in the Middle East markets after consolidating its position in the European markets. The expansion of high-end Telstar Biovanguard cabinets, which were launched earlier last year, to the Middle East market is in response to the increasing demand for high quality solutions and high performance capability by companies located in this area. Biovanguard will be formally presented at Arablab exhibition (Dubai 2014, March 17-20 / Stand 466).

Telstar Biovanguard range is designed to provide the highest level of protection for the operator, product and environment by minimizing hazards inherent to working with agents assigned to biosafety levels 1, 2 and 3. BioVanguard Series is comprised of two different models: BioVanguard and BioVanguard B. BioVanguard is designed for microbiological research with biological agents (bacteria, viruses, etc.) and allergens. BioVanguard B (with additional 1^st stage HEPA filtration) is designed for high risk microbiological and highly toxic applications, such as the production of cytotoxic drugs.

The Telstar BioVanguard Series has been designed in accordance with the highest standards of quality, biological safety, reliability, ergonomics and usability. Possessing all the features of an ergonomic, high quality and performance cabinet, the BioVanguard Series is designed to offer low sound level, low energy consumption and low maintenance costs. In terms of energy efficiency, this range of cabinets has Green Line EC fans, resulting in lower energy consumption (about 30% less than the average biological safety cabinet).

Biovanguard has an integrated pre-filter to condition the incoming air, thereby reducing the level of particulate matter entering the cabinet, which dramatically extends the life of the HEPA filters. Other particular features of BioVanguard Series are the ergonomic sloped, easy-to-clean sliding/hinged front window, ultra safe multi-shell construction, UV light and gas valve safety control, worktop with V-shaped air slits, integrated drip tray, filter clogging compensation and innovative, unique and patented 4F System (Fast, Friendly and eFFicient) to support replacement of the filters.

Furthermore, downflow velocity can be set up to 0.45 m/s (according to GMP Annex 1 and PIC regulations) and connections are available for particle count sensor, pressure sensor and temperature/relative humidity sensor.

Arablab 2014: Telstar Igloo and Telstar LyoQuest

The new line of ecological and green Ultra-Low-Freezers for clinical and research centres developed by Telstar will also be presented at Arablab exhibition. It's Telstar Igloo, a compact and ecological ultra-low temperature freezer for secure preservation of samples. Under the green line concept, the Telstar Igloo ultra-low-freezer offers -86°C temperature and provides an innovative and energy efficient storage system, superior temperature performance and uniformity. It also offers the lowest power consumption and low noise level (< 50 dB(A)) in a small footprint, which enables a more optimized freezer layout and the flexibility to adapt to any space. Telstar has developed this new equipment using its own cold storage technology.

At the same time, Telstar will show at Arablab a new generation of line of laboratory freeze dryers: Telstar LyoQuest. With a condensation capacity of 8 liters, this freeze dryer for laboratory makes possible to carry out pre-freezing, primary drying, and secondary drying processes. This Telstar's equipment is the only freeze dryer on the market that combines all of these features into a single device so that users can work with different types of samples (vials, trays, ampoules, and flasks) using the same piece of equipment. In addition to being versatile, LyoQuest also allows users to create recipes involving temperature and vacuum control thanks to its PLC controller. The innovative design of this freeze dryer results in an extremely small unit with large condensation capacity. Furthermore, its design makes possible to pre-freeze products inside the device, often without the need for an additional freezer.
