Telstar takes a major step in R+D to develop innovative solutions in the field of research laboratories offering an extended range of efficient, environmental and human-centered ergonomic equipment.

The company will complete the BiOptima biosafety innovative cabinets range with two new versions that, designed to be completely adapted to the operator’s physical attributes and requirements, are intended to be used for microbiological research featuring low noise levels, low power consumption and low maintenance costs. BiOptima belong to the new generation Microbiological Safety Cabinets (MSC) designed to provide higher performance, comfort and cleanability. With a new breakthrough design, these innovative cabinets also ensure optimum efficiency and high-level energy savings.

The Class II MSC BiOptima range consists of different versions. BiOptima standard model integrated with two HEPA filters, according to the EN12469 standard, for microbiological research with biological agents (bacteria, viruses, etc.) and allergens and BiOptima Cyto, including three HEPA filters, according to the DIN12980 norm, addressed to work with high-risk microbiological and highly toxic applications, such as the production of cytotoxic drugs. These versions provide operator protection with the inflow air barrier, product protection thanks to HEPA-filtered laminar downflow in the working area and environmental protection through the exhaust HEPA filter.

This range will be extended with the new BiOptima EXA class II B2 cabinet according to NSF 49 standards, for working with toxic and / or volatile chemicals. Configured to work with an external ventilation system, without internal recirculation, the airflow comes from outside accessing through the front, upper part of the cabinet to create laminar flow in the work area and subsequently, free of microorganisms, it is redirected to the upper part of the cabin where it is expelled (100% air extracted). This version of cabinet must be interlocked with an external extraction system, so the cabin does not include an exhaust fan inside the cabinet.

In addition, BiOptima ONE is a new version of Class I safety cabinet designed, according to EN12469 standard, for general microbiological research with low- and moderate-risk agents. Integrating all design attributes of BiOptima range, this version has been developed to offer protection for operator and environment, but no product protection, so it is not equipped with laminar downflow system, offering higher exhaust air speed in the working chamber than the standard equipment.

Recently, a new generation of environmentally friendly laboratory freeze dryers that operate with natural gases has been launched by Telstar. Specially designed for R+D laboratories, LyoQuest Arctic is a bench-top environmentally friendly lab freeze-dryer that integrates pre-freezing, primary drying and secondary drying processes avoiding the use of conventional HFC or HFO cooling gases. Unlike conventional freeze dryers using HFC cooling gases, the LyoQuest Arctic reduces the GWP impact more than 1,000-fold.
