The University of Navarra hosts an international symposium on Natural Fertility Awareness

The University of Navarra will host an International Multidisciplinary Symposium on Natural Fertility Awareness on September 22, 23, and the 24th. The conference, which counts with the Universidad de Los Andes (Chile) and the Veritas Amoris Project, will address the anthropological, emotional, and biological dimensions of sexuality and fertility.

Experts from the universities and centers in Spain, Chile, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, and Ireland will attend the conference to deepen the understanding of these methods "as instruments of an existing broader reality, part of the anthropology of the human being" states Dr. Luis Chiva, director of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and one of the organizers of the symposium.

Professor Chiva stresses that "in recent decades, a hedonistic view that focuses on sexuality itself has been imposed on society, thus blurring its sense of being a gift, based on respect for one's own body as a fundamental part of one's person. We think it is urgent to highlight the value of one's own body and sexuality as an essential, wonderful quality that affects the whole of a person."

Among the speakers at the symposium: Josep Standford (University of Utah, USA), Rene Leiva (University of Ontario, Canada), Christopher West (Theology of the Body Institute, USA), Juan José Pérez Soba (John Paul II Pontifical Theology Institute, Rome), René Écochard (Claude Bernard University Lyon, France) and Marguerite Duane (Georgetown University, USA).

The symposium is part of an University of Navarra's extensive project, which promotes research on Natural Fertility Awareness and its application for seeking or postponing pregnancy, which includes facilitating the teaching of the methods of Natural Fertility Awareness, promoting the training of professionals in this field, generating a network of people interested in the study and development of research in the area.
