Donation & Transplantation Institute (DTI) is a non-profit organization committed to improve society’s quality of life through donation and transplantation of organs, tissues and cells.
DTI’s founders are a group of internationally recognized experts in the area of organ donation and transplantation. DTI brings together international experts in the field to advise and support the implementation of projects in organ, tissue and cell donation and transplantation, and creates a wide network for research.

The leadership includes seasoned clinicians, researchers and administrators with decades of experience in transplantation medicine, healthcare management and international cooperation. Research Development Department
The Research Development department of DTI Foundation supports world-class research groups to develop basic and preclinical research projects in the field of Advanced Therapies. The projects supported by DTI focus on developing in vitro human predictive tools to achieve several objectives:
• Anticipate potential adverse, ineffective, or toxic effects resulting from the action of immunomodulatory compounds in cancer patients.
• Identify new therapeutic targets and/or biomarkers that could improve patient prognosis.
• Design and validate organoid models through comprehensive characterization, including drug testing and in-depth omics analyses (such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics) of both organoids and tissues to evaluate their molecular and cellular similarity to original tissues.
• Develop and optimize advanced tools to analyze the impact of various components on organoid structures, aiming to gain deeper insights into their molecular mechanisms.
Current services and areas of expertise
The Research Development Department of DTI Foundation has more than 10 years of experience in creating *prospective circuits* for the obtention of human biospecimen samples tailored to the client needs and requirements, which encompasses strong collaborations with national and international hospital procurement centers, biobanks and laboratories by supporting the creation of circuits for obtaining, processing and sending high quality human biological samples to research groups, whether promoted by research centers, hospitals, health centers, universities or biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies.
In particular, the R+D+i department has extensive experience in the creation of prospective circuits for obtaining, storing and sending fresh biological samples for research. In the different projects that we coordinate, our team is in permanent contact with the medical teams, registering 24/7 possible donation alerts and assisting in-situ to the surgical rooms where the sample collection processes is performed. Thus allow us to evaluate the samples together with the medical teams and ensure a great control of quality and traceability throughout all the process.
