According to the annual CYD Fundación report, the University of Navarra is a leader in research impact in Medicine and Nursing, considering the number and quality of citations that it received in other academic publications. The report also places the university first in Spain in international orientation and in the top ten in teaching and learning.

This is the seventeenth edition of the report on the contribution of Spanish universities to development. The document is divided into four chapters: Basic features of the Spanish university system; University graduates and the labor market; Research and transfer in Spanish universities and international position.

In the chapter on Research, the report analyzes scientific production in six areas: Medicine; Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology; Immunology and Microbiology; Psychology; Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics and finally Nursing. In each one, it classifies the output (number of publications); the normalized weighted impact factor (that is the number of citations received by the institution in relation to the average number of citations of the world´s scientific production in the same field); the scientific output in the first quarter (Q1) and the percentage of excellence with leadership.

The University of Navarra is first in Medicine in normalized weighted impact factor; in Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology, the University is in third place in papers published in Q1 and second in normalized weighted impact factor. In Nursing, the University is first in normalized weighted impact factor and first in percentage of excellence in leadership; second in publications in Q1 and third in general production.

The report also analyzes publications cited in patents. The University leads the national classification in the percentage of citations, with an output of 6,823 articles, 164 of which are cited (2.4%).

Furthermore, with 39 publications for every 10,000 inhabitants, Navarra is the second region in the number of articles produced, behind Madrid and ahead of Cataluña and Cantabria.

Navarra, first in international students and third in rate of employment

According to the CYD 2020 Ranking and the indicator of international orientation at the institutional level, the report places the University of Navarra and the Universitat Ramón Llull in first place. In addition, Navarra is positioned as one of the regions with the highest number of international students: 1 out of every 5 students in regular enrollment is international. In second place are Cantabria, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community and Madrid.

In the employment rate data, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Navarre and La Rioja stand out as those showing both a higher employment rate for higher graduates and a lower unemployment rate. At the other extreme, the Canary Islands, Andalusia and the Valencian Community are at the bottom of the list.

Finally, the report indicated that the Navarre region had a higher percentage of adult population between 25 to 64 years of age, that have completed professional training in 2020 (above 13%), ahead of the Basque Country and Murcia.
