Impetux manages to collect € 125,000 to introduce its technology to market

Impetux, a spin-off of the University of Barcelona responsible for exploiting the technology developed at the Department of Applied Physics and Optics, is about to close its round of crowdfunding accomplishing its goal to collect € 125,000. The campaign, which began in November through the platform Socios Inversores, started with the aim of raising enough money to bring its technology for optical tweezers to market. The objective of this phase is to publicize the technology and identify needs in order to develop a product adapted to the market of Developmental Biology.

The success of the campaign has prompted Impetux to extend it until May 4 with the purpose of increasing investment by 25%: "We are very grateful to all those who are trusting us. Given the success and taking advantage of the final push, we are extending the campaign for a few more days," said Elisabet Romeu, director of Impetux.

Thanks to optical tweezers, which enable the manipulation of microscopic objects without direct contact, using only light, Impetux technology can address complex problems hitherto inaccessible. For instance, as if they were microscopic hands, tweezers enable access inside an embryo to determine the forces generated between cells during development, the basic information for understanding the migration of cells that give rise to the final form of the embryo. This internationally patented technology explores the microscopic world and its main application is in the field of Developmental Biology.
