At Neoalgae, we aim to transform agriculture through natural, effective and sustainable solutions. Today we can proudly share scientific data that validates this vision: Spiragro delivers measurable, high‑impact results.

Part of the field trials were carried out within the EU LIFE ALGAR‑BBE project, led by Neoalgae in partnership with CTAEX (Agri‑Food Technological Centre of Extremadura).

The full results have been published in the scientific journal Sustainability: https://www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/18/8/3958

Field‑proven improvements in tomato performance

Large-scale trials in Spain (CTAEX) and Portugal delivered exceptional outcomes:

+51.9% increase in total yield

The combined drip + foliar application was the most effective, significantly outperforming the control.

Heavier fruits: +2 to +9 g per fruit

A direct improvement in marketable quality and processing value.

Strong reduction in blossom‑end rot (BER)

The formulation improved physiological stability and reduced losses.

Enhanced plant nutrition

Foliar analysis revealed:

  • P: +52.9%
  • Ca: +36.5%
  • Fe: +60.4%
  • Cu: +71.3%

Lower reliance on chemical inputs

Crop health was maintained without increasing pesticide or fungicide usage.

Spiragro: innovation validated through the LIFE ALGAR‑BBE project

The LIFE ALGAR‑BBE project (microalgae with Aromatic plants as Biostimulants with Biocide Effect), led by Neoalgae and carried out with CTAEX, validated a unique technology based on:

  • Enzymatically hydrolyzed microalgae
  • Aromatic plant extracts with bioprotective activity
  • Circular economy valorisation of olive mill wastewater

This synergy results in a next‑generation biostimulant capable of improving productivity, quality, and sustainability.

A real solution for the agriculture of tomorrow

Spiragro offers growers:

  • Higher yields
  • Better fruit quality
  • Fewer losses
  • Reduced chemical dependency
  • A pathway to sustainable agriculture aligned with the European Green Deal
