The activity "Knowing the brain in health and disease: addictions and doping", whose objective has been to present addiction from a multidisciplinary approach, has been widely appreciated by its attendees thanks to its playful and participatory content.

Coinciding with the World Brain Week ( Brain Awareness Week ), last Thursday March 18, the URJC held the conference "Knowing the brain in health and disease: addictions and doping" . This activity was based on the objective of presenting the subject of addiction from different perspectives. In this way, the day consisted of three round tables on Neurobiology, Sport and doping and the Relationship of addiction with the COVID-19 pandemic, and ended in a more playful and participatory way with a cinema forum.

The activity, aimed mainly at university students with diverse backgrounds, although highlighting students from the health branch, was carried out online, which made it possible for attendees to access from different parts of Spain. In such a way that it had the registration of 420 people, 337 undergraduate and doctorate, and the rest, professionals interested in the matter. In fact, the presentations were followed by an average of 128 people. This day had the help of the Vice President for University Extension and the sponsorship of the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC). The dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Carmen Gallardo inaugurated the conference in which expert speakers participated in the different aspects of interest, both from the university itself and from outside the Rey Juan Carlos University.

An example of this has been the UCM professor Rafa Guerrero, director of Darwin Psicólogos, who occupied a space in the session on addictions in the context of COVID-19, speaking about the prevention of these addictions from the attachment theory. The participation of this professor and the other speakers has been widely valued by the attendees in the 113 surveys collected. Among the impressions of these participants, a majority indicated the need to make these contents known to society and their desire that the activity be carried out again soon, if possible, in person. And, although the contents have been quite technical, the conference has managed to attract students from such disparate branches as journalism, among others. Specifically, a student in this field has stated that, Despite “not being able to understand the first block”, he found the ensemble “very attractive and captivating” and perfect for “raising awareness among young audiences”. This opinion has been shared by other attendees, who have assured "take home practical content applicable to certain related situations."
