The innovative, multidisciplinary SysBioM project aims to combine high throughput imaging, fluorescent cells sorting techniques, genomics and computational analysis that can be applied to plants and plant-associated microorganisms. The methodology to be incorporated to CsBGP will allow the global study of biological systems and development of computational models that will contribute to a deeper understanding of relevant biological processes in plants and associated microbes, thereby providing new knowledge and technologies. To achieve this ambitious goal CBGP will purchase: Flow cytometer with cell sorting system for the study of specific cell populations and their subsequent molecular characterization using "omics" technologies (CF / FACS), a Miniaturized Microbial Growth Monitoring System (SMCM) to study microbial growth and evolution, and complementary equipment todetermine the quality of biomolecules isolated from the samples (RNA/DNA/proteins) generated with equipment 1 and 2, as a preliminary step for their genomic and functional analysis. This new SysBioM scientific infrastructure will also contribute to enhance the progresses of Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering research lines that we are currently running at the CBGP (UPM-INIA).
