A IRBLleida research group participates in a European project to promote the application of emerging technologies and reduce the cost of medical care

The GRECS research group of the IRBLleida and the University of Lleida (UdL) participates in the European project "Moore4Medical: Accelerating Innovation in Microfabricated Medical Devices" to promote the application of emerging technologies, such as the monitoring of adherence to medicines or smart ultrasounds, with the aim of reducing the cost of medical care. The Lleida team, coordinated by Fran Valenzuela, and with the participation of Montserrat Gea, Manuel Sánchez de la Torre, Esther Rubinat, Joan Blanco, Francesc Rubí and Blanca Manuel, is in charge of developing different sensors and software that will be used in diagnosed patients obstructive sleep apnea. For this reason, Lleida will host a clinical study where this new technology will be used to assess and improve the quality of sleep of patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

Moore4Medical brings together 66 companies, universities and institutes from 12 countries (Holland, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary and Romania) that will develop open technology platforms to reduce waiting time. in which research reaches the industry and the patient, and at the lowest possible cost. The project is coordinated by the Dutch company Philips, started this June and lasts for 3 years with a total budget of € 66 million. In the case of the Lleida team, the budget is € 121,156.
