To ring in this year’s colorectal cancer awareness month this coming March, we have organized a special workshop open to the public taking place on Thursday 27 February, from 18:00h-20:00h, C/Rosselló, 231, 2-1 (Barcelona). Download the promotional flyer in PDF here: What is changing in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC_ (003)

As a joint initiative of the EU Horizon 2020-supported COLOSSUS and MoTriColor projects, the two key objectives of this event, to be conducted in Spanish, are:

  • To report on just how these innovative research projects are bringing essential improvements to the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
  • Open up dialogue between patients, relatives and friends present with our experts so that they can ask questions, express any doubts or concerns, debate and exchange different experiences and viewpoints.

We have invited a trio of leading oncological experts within the colorectal cancer field: Rodrigo Dienstmann, PI of the Oncology Data Science Group at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) and Scientific Lead of the COLOSSUS Project; Ramon Salazar, Head of the Medical Oncology Department at the Hospital Duran i Reynals and Principal Investigator of the MoTriColor Project; and Ariadna Garcia, Translational Research Oncology Nurse at VHIO.

There will also be an interactive session with the public, associations and patient groups including the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC), Dones en Actiu, EuropaColon and Grupo Español de Pacientes con Cáncer, moderated by Jorge Hernando, Clinical Investigator of VHIO’s Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Tumors Group.

The idea of organizing this event derives from the COLOSSUS (https://www.colossusproject.eu/) and MoTriColor (http://www.motricolor.eu/) projects. Both are financed by the H2020 Program of the European Union. COLOSSUS is comprised of fourteen organizations from eight different countries. The coordinator of this project is Annette Byrne, Head of the Precision Medicine Group at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RSCI – Dublin).

The MoTriColor consortium is powered by ten partners from five countries. Josep Tabernero, Director of VHIO, is the coordinator of this project.
