Fundacion MEDINA reaffirms its commitment to transparency in the use of animals for biomedical research, a principle it embraced in 2022 when it joined the Transparency Agreement on Animal Research, promoted by the Confederation of Scientific Societies of Spain (COSCE) and the European Animal Research Association (EARA).
Animal research remains essential for understanding the biological mechanisms underlying numerous diseases and for advancing the development of new treatments, including pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, vaccines, and surgical techniques. In this context, the MEDINA Foundation upholds animal welfare and strict compliance with current regulations as top priorities, consistently promoting alternative approaches and the reduction of animal use.
The Foundation also ensures that its staff and researchers receive the training and resources needed to work according to the highest standards of responsibility. Its commitment to outreach is reflected in active participation in transparency initiatives, including teaching in official master’s programs, publishing scientific articles, and delivering presentations at conferences dedicated to both animal experimentation and alternative models.
Below is a summary of the 8th Annual COSCE Transparency Agreement Report (2025), detailing the degree of compliance among all participating institutions:
