The Basque biopharmaceutical company has recently obtained the US patent for HC016 cell product. The approval of these products by the United States Patent and Trademark Office has great difficulty so this is an important milestone for the company and offers the opportunity to expand the business to the American market.

Currently, Histocell has a significant portfolio of 22 international patents from 7 different families, which protect all company products internationally.

HC016 is obtained from adult stem cells from adipose tissue and alogenic origin. The product is manufactured following a proprietary protocol of Histocell. The technology used allows enhancing the resistance and survival of these cells in cytotoxic environments, improving their anti-inflammatory, protective and tissue regenerative properties.

The cellular therapy product HC016 can be applied for the treatment of various diseases mediated by oxidative stress processes, such as acute spinal cord injury, ischemic diseases or acute lung injury, among others.

Efficacy and safety pre-clinical results shown so far have been very encouraging, and Histocell is currently working to bring this cell therapy product to patients.
