The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Barcelona, honoured for the quality of its dissemination activities

The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of the University of Barcelona received the Quality Education Label by the Pedagogical Council of Barcelona in the accreditation project of the Educational Activities Program (PAE) of the Barcelona Institute of Education (IMEB). The report reaches the conclusion that the UCC+i activities are “good, rigorous, structured, systematized and they integrate objectives, a development guideline and evaluation indicators”.

This certification process which started in February 2015 resulting from an agreement between IMEB and Institute of Science Education (ICE) of the University of Barcelona, aims to analyse the good existent practises, offer elements of improvement and basically, contribute to improve the educational offering of the city.

The evaluation, carried out by ICE, highlights that UCC+i activities have a clear educational sense, with a high level of social commitment; they promote the students’ interest in science and knowledge, and contribute to increase scientific vocations in youngsters. Also, the report states that “all the activities show a great systematization and academic rigour for their link with scientific research”, although there could be changes and improvements through a pedagogical advising system “to articulate, from a pedagogical perspective, what is already being done” according to the report.

UB Divulga, member of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Units Network

The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Barcelona has passed the renewal process as a certificate member of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Units Network (UCC+i), valid until December 31, 2017. The University of Barcelona is part of this network from the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) since 2007.

As a member of the Network, the University of Barcelona can use the member image of the group in all materials and scientific dissemination activities. Moreover, it enjoys priority access in meetings and specific training organized by the Ministry and obtains additional points in the call for the grant of the scientific culture and innovation Program under FECYT’s management.
