The laboratory of Neural Stem Cells and Neurogenesis of ACHUCARRO and the laboratory of Cell signaling of the UPV/EHU have just published a new article describing the possibility to culture dental pulp stem cells of human origin using a serum-free protocol compatible with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Furthermore, they have described for the first time the ability of these cells to participate, integrate and generate new brain vasculature when grafted intracranially.

This work opens the possibility of the use of this source of stem cells, of adult origin, for brain vasculopathy and both neuroprotective and vascular therapies.
