Each year, around 130 million babies are born worldwide. A baby’s cry is not just a sound; it is a valuable source of information. It communicates the needs, emotions, health, and overall physical condition of newborns.
ZOUNDREAM, S.L. (Zoundream) is a company that has succeeded in decoding this communication system by identifying behavioral patterns and dynamics, using artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced voice recognition technology to analyze and interpret newborns’ cries.
Its system, developed with the aim of monitoring babies by identifying their needs, is designed to provide continuous and non-invasive health monitoring of newborns in their homes. Based on acoustic biomarkers—ranging from cry interpretation to supporting the early detection of potential pathologies and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism—this solution opens up the possibility of significantly improving preventive pediatric care.
CDTI Innovación, through Innvierte, has completed an investment in the company alongside CRB DIGITAL HEALTH III, F.C.R.E. and CRB DIGITAL HEALTH III BIS F.C.R.E., S.A., with a contribution of €675,000. Through this participation, the institution reinforces its commitment to companies developing healthcare technologies that improve people’s lives.
CRB Health Tech
CRB Health Tech, S.G.E.I.C., S.A. is a venture capital management company specialized in healthcare technology investments, including biotechnology, medical devices, and digital health. It manages the funds CRB DIGITAL HEALTH III, F.C.R.E. and CRB DIGITAL HEALTH III BIS F.C.R.E., S.A., through which CDTI Innovación co-invests in Zoundream.
Founded in 2008 by a multidisciplinary team based in Madrid and Barcelona, the firm supports visionary entrepreneurs and innovative projects that are transforming the healthcare landscape through the use of disruptive technologies.
The investment strategy of CRB Health Tech’s funds focuses on the development of disruptive technologies applied to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as platforms that help improve the efficiency and sustainability of the healthcare system.
Innvierte
Innvierte is an initiative aimed at promoting business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. The program is implemented through the closed-ended investment company Innvierte Economía Sostenible SICC S.M.E., S.A., which is self-managed and supervised by the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), and of which CDTI Innovación is the sole shareholder.
To date, CDTI Innovación has committed €3,478.5 million through Innvierte across 61 investment vehicles and, through its co-investment line, has directly committed €866.1 million in 197 companies.
Innvierte is part of the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2021–2027, approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2020. This strategy sets out the objectives, reforms, and measures to be implemented across the R&D&I ecosystem to drive growth and impact, and serves as one of the pillars underpinning the Government’s innovation policy for the coming years.
