GENESIS Biomed is involved in eB2 and FARMALARM mHealth projects.

The proliferation of “wearables” and mobile health applications (mHealth) has grown strongly in recent years. Today, there is a wide assortment of tools that evaluate mental and neurological health; as well as remote monitoring, follow-up and management of a specific illness. But very few of the existing applications have been rigorously validated and there is little evidence on the effectiveness of most mHealth applications.

That is why at GENESIS Biomed, there is a wide interest in finding this type of new and rigorous applications for the diagnosis of mental health and neurological disorders: post-traumatic stress, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, subclinical depression (dysphoria) or Parkinson’s disease.

During the last year GENESIS Biomed has become involved in different projects for the development of mental and neurological health assessment apps.

eB2

GENESIS Biomed works with eB2: a spin-off of the Carlos III University (Madrid) founded in 2017. This company specialises in collecting the fingerprint of users to obtain useful information through the application of Artificial Intelligence. eB2 develops an algorithm to connect RWD (Real Word Data) from a mobile phone and use it in different areas focused on improving people’s well-being.

Among the eB2 solutions available to improve emotional well-being, worthy of mention is MindCare. MindCare, is an app and platform for the monitoring and management of mental health, emotional well-being, chronic diseases and occupational health. For example, in the workplace, it promotes the adoption of healthy habits for the well-being of workers, reducing stress and absenteeism from work. The aim in this case is to achieve healthier companies through happier people.

FARMALARM

GENESIS Biomed has also worked with the Vall d’Hebron Hospital (Barcelona) for the development of the FARMALARM research project: an app that promotes healthy changes in lifestyle after a stroke, through personalised monitoring by healthcare personnel.

FARMALARM is a key communication tool between patient and doctor after discharge to confirm compliance with medication; record and report blood pressure and blood glucose levels; view information about strokes and risk factors; monitor physical exercise, dietary guidelines and receive health advice and questionnaires.
