Bastos Medical, committed to IDIBELL’s ovarian cancer research

Each year more than 3,000 new cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed in Spain, and about 2,000 women die from this disease. This high mortality rate is due in large part to a late diagnosis, made when the disease is advanced, and / or to the lack of accurate treatments.

In order to advance in the research against this disease, Bastos Medical S.L. will donate a percentage of the sales of some of its products during the months of January and February to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). The amount donated by the company will fund the research project in ovarian cancer led by Dr. Francesc Viñals.

Dr. Viñals is part of the Program Against Cancer Therapeutic Resistance (ProCURE) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology - IDIBELL. By carrying out the research project supported by by Bastos Medical S.L., his research team aims to discover new methods of early diagnosis and identify effective treatments against ovarian cancer.
