A total of 10 Catalan medical device or digital health start-ups will have the chance to participate in the HealthTech Start-up Competition in front of the audience at BIO-Europe Spring 2017 on 22 March.

The entrepreneurs will present their innovative solutions and business plans in a five-minute pitch to an international panel of experts in entrepreneurship, who may ask questions or give advice on each presentation and choose the final winners of the contest.

Biocat and ACCIÓ have launched a call for proposals open to all companies interested in participating in the competition. The deadline to submit proposals is 20 February 2017. In order to be considered, candidates must have an important focus on the market in developing technology-based projects to create a product or service. Plus, the company must have been working on developing proof of concept or prototypes and expect to sell or license the product or service within two years.

BIO-Europe Spring is the second most important partnering congress in Europe, held in Barcelona this year from 20 to 22 March. The latest edition of the fair was attended by more than 1,300 companies, which held nearly 12,500 partnering meetings. The 10 start-ups selected to participate will get a free ticket to the fair for Wednesday 22 March.

To participate in the HealthTech Start-up Competition, download the call, fill out the form enclosed and send it to Roi Villar (rvillar@biocat.cat) by 20 February.
