The Graphene Flagship, Europe's largest ever research initiative, will be at MEDICA 2017 this month to present demonstrators of innovative biomedical technologies based on graphene and related materials. As a partner institute, the ICN2 will be displaying two of its technologies in this field: a graphene sensor that can detect the onset of epileptic seizures and a retinal implant that can help restore sight.
Other technology demonstrators being showcased by the Graphene Flagship include a robotic hand demoed by the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and a brain-computer interface for measuring brain activity from Austrian company, Guger Technologies.
With over 130,000 professional visitors and 5,100 exhibitors expected, MEDICA 2017 promises to bring graphene biosensors, implants and bioelectronics one step closer to medical practice.
