Dr López-Bigas, who holds a doctorate degree in biology from the Universitat de Barcelona and heads the Biomedical Genomics Research Group of the UPF in Barcelona, is the winner of the XI Banc Sabadell Foundation award for Biomedical Research.

This prize is an acknowledgement of her contribution to the development of new bioinformatics methods for studying cancer genomes. The group she leads works in the field of bioinformatics and is dedicated to studying the genomes of tumours, in search of mutations that are relevant for their development.

The Banc Sabadell Award consists of €50,000. The purpose of the prize is to recognise the track record of a young scientist with a promising future, who has developed their career in Spain.
