EMBO, the European Molecular Biology Organization, chooses some of the best young group leaders in Europe through a highly competitive annual selection. Pere presented his research plan for the next five years to an international panel in Heidelberg at the beginning of October.
“I’m really delighted to have been accepted,” says Pere, who is the first ever IBEC researcher to be selected for the programme, and the only one from Spain this year.
“As someone working at the interface between physics and biology, this is also a very important recognition that our approach is recognized and valued by the life science community.”
There are currently 74 current EMBO Young Investigators who, together with 382 former members of the programme, form a network of over 456 life scientists. Of all present and past EMBO Young Investigators, 24 have come from Spain.
During their three-year tenure in the programme, EMBO Young Investigators receive a range of financial and practical benefits to support them during a critical stage of their career, and help them realize their potential as world-class researchers.
