International experts in optics and photonics meet at the University of Barcelona

From the 11th to 15th July the University of Barcelona organizes the 15th Workshop on Information Optics (WIO2016). The meeting focuses on recent progresses in the fields of optic information, science and image engineering, 3D technologies, security of information based on image or biophotonics.

This forum started in 1994, and it is a restricted meeting for fifty communications of research and businesses invited to present the last advances on optics and photonics. Another aim is to create spaces to promote collaboration and network.

In the meeting, organized by Professors Artur Carnicer and Santiago Vallmitjana from the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Barcelona and by Professor Bahram Javidi from the University of Connecticut, there is the participation of distinguished researchers from Europe, Asia and the United States. Among the invited speakers there is the researcher Dmitry Psaltis from the University of California San Diego and Doctor Abhijit Mahalanobis from the company Lockheed Martin. Among the speakers there are also experts from the University of Barcelona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and other Spanish universities. The meeting has the support of IEEE Photonics Society and the Spanish Society for Optics.
