We have another IQAC seminar session online. We will have Laura Salonen, from International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, on Thursday, 17th December at 12h, invited by Carlos Rodríguez Abreu.
Title: Covalent organic frameworks – Synthesis and Application for the Capture of Water Pollutants
Abstract:
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are crystalline porous materials, which are formed by the self-assembly of organic building blocks. These materials are currently receiving great interest in the literature due to their ordered structures, large surface area, and pore uniformity. Judicious design of COF building blocks gives access to tailor-made pore sizes and surfaces, and thus properties of these materials can be optimized towards specific applications. These features make COF materials attractive candidates for adsorption and separation applications, with potential of size- and target molecule selectivity. Herein, our results on the design and synthesis of COFs for the capture of contaminants from water will be presented.
