IQS, a university institution with more than a century of experience and widespread recognition for its excellence in higher education, is beginning a new chapter today. This morning featured the presentation of new laboratories, the inauguration of renovated spaces, and the launch of a new corporate image.

400 m² of new laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technology have been inaugurated. In this way, the modernization of our facilities, which has involved an investment of 4.5 million euros, will allow IQS to take a step forward in our objective of continuing to be at the forefront of scientific and technological education and strengthening our position in the field of management.

Research leader

With these additions to our facilities, IQS is now home to more than 8,720 m² of laboratory space. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, our Analytical and Applied Chemistry laboratories reinforce studies in bioanalysis and omics sciences, supported by partnerships with leading suppliers such as PerkinElmer and Sciex. The acquisition of cutting-edge equipment, including the innovative ICP-MS with the Single Particle module and the QTOF mass spectrometer, positions IQS at the forefront of research in the field of metal analysis, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.

The school is strengthening its commitment to scientific excellence and safety, an objective on which we will continue to work. In fact, during upcoming months we also plan to open the new Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy laboratory, now in the final phase of construction. These devices allow analyses and processes that were previously not possible at IQS, thus consolidating our institution as a leader in biomolecular research and giving us a privileged position to continue with the development of advanced therapies with therapeutic and biomedical applications.

New IQS image and website

Along with the new facilities, IQS has also presented a renewed corporate image that is both innovative and in line with the latest design trends. The new corporate visual image improves readability for our brand and addresses the needs of an increasingly digital and international environment, all while remaining faithful to the values and origins of our university centre.

The new logo integrates the two university faculties of IQS, reinforcing a more cohesive and cross-disciplinary corporate image that also brings together all the sub-brands and divisions of the institution by showing a more unified and recognizable corporate brand image. The “Q” has gained character and dynamism by incorporating the colour green, thereby making a nod to sustainability, something that is very present in IQS’s strategic plan.

More innovative, more international, more sustainable. These are the keys to the transformation and future projection of a century-old institution that is aimed towards the future and committed to the progress and improvement of society through the education and development of people who are prepared to take on the challenges of today’s world.

The university’s website is also beginning a new chapter. To align with the other communication elements and our future projection, IQS has launched our new corporate website, which we are pleased to present with new functionalities to improve accessibility and usability. The new website makes searching and interacting with information more intuitive and efficient than ever. The corporate website presents updated and relevant content about our academic programmes, research activities, events, news, and other services offered by IQS.

Inauguration event

The inauguration of this new chapter at IQS was held today at our campus, which welcomed attendees with the surprise of a renovated reception area that is now more spacious and brighter, a new student services office that will soon be inaugurated, and a more accessible and functional Registrar’s Office.

The event was attended by Dr Salvador Borrós, Director of IQS, who presented the university’s vision for the future. Likewise, Dr Marta Tena, Director of Communications and Corporate Marketing, and representatives from FIRMA, the agency responsible for the new corporate design, explained the meaning of this important visual image change and its applications for our institution’s various areas of action.

Dr Borrós presented these novel features, in addition to highlighting the projects planned in the short term, to an audience full of individuals from the IQS academic and business community, including faculty, research staff, doctoral students, administrative staff, members of the Board of Trustees, the Rectorate of Ramon Lull University, and IQS Alumni.

An informal toast brought the inauguration ceremony to an end, following a guided tour of the laboratories that allowed attendees to discover the changes to our facilities. The premiere of the modern Department of Analytical and Applied Chemistry laboratories was among the most noteworthy few features.

Preparing the professionals of the future

These renovations and the new laboratories represent more than just an upgrade to our facilities: they also pave the way for future opportunities for collaboration and discovery, strengthening IQS’s research capacity and establishing a solid bridge between academia and various industries. With more than 2,400 students, 336 employees, and more than 8,720 m² of laboratory space, IQS is consolidating itself as a leader of the future in higher education, research, and connections with the business sector. We are a century-old institution with an international vision, a culture of collaboration and innovation, and a leader in preparing professionals to take on the challenges of the 21st century.
