Physicaltech: New Spin-off of the University of Barcelona

The World Health Organization considers that 80% of the global population is being affected by back pain during their lives. In the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation there is a need to develop systems able to evaluate the flexibility and posture.

Sergio Escalera, a researcher at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Barcelona, Miguel Reyes, Ph.D student from the same University, with the physiotherapists of the company IFGM (Global Institute of Physiotherapy Mézières) have created Physicaltech, a technology company specialized in postural analysis and movement, and they have developed a tool for estimate the position based on the analysis of 3D information call ADiBAS posture (www.adibas.es).

The FBG has accompanied entrepreneurs in the definition of the business idea, the evaluation of the patentability of strategy as well as in the technology transfer contract negotiations
