This Thursday, January 26, the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona holds the fifth workshop by the LEARN project, funded by the European Commission through the program Horizon 2020. Entitled “Shaping and aligning research data management policies”, the workshop aims to share experiences on research data management and create a debate among the different participating parts: researchers, librarians, financial supporters and managers, among others.

The event, which will be streamed on UBtv, has two parts. In the morning, the workshop will count with the participation of the coordinator of the project, Paul Ayris; Marie Timmermann, from Science Europe; Daniel Mietchen, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States; Eva Méndez, from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and Oriol Pujol, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of the UB. In the afternoon, work groups will be formed to debate on the model of data management policy on which they are working.

LEARN was set up in June 2015 and lasts for two years. Apart from the UB, the project counts with the participation of the University College of London, the University of Vienna, the Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. The final objective of the project is to create a research data management model for research centers and universities.

So far, LEARN has organized four workshops: in London, Vienna, Helsinki and Santiago de Chile. On May 5 there will be a final conference in London, in which the final reports created in this project will be presented.
