AEQTC is a prestigious National Institution founded in 1958 exclusively scientific, technician and non-profit making. This Partnership brings together people linked to companies producing colorants, auxiliary and sizing products, producers of textile fibers, manufactures and representatives of textile machinery, industrial companies dedicated to bleaching, dyeing, printing, sizing and finishing of textile materials as well as managers and technicians of the sector, University professors, researchers from the CSIC and Technology Centers and students college.

Every year, AEQTC organizes a national symposium and participates in the organization of the international congresses of Federación Internacional de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles (IFATCC).

This year, the symposium consisted of 3 conferences and a round table, as well as the research poster presentación and the delivery of the 32nd Prize for the Best Study of Textile Chemistry and Chemistry with Industrial Application.

The slogan of this year was TEXTILE INDUSTRY: EFFICIENT ANSWER TO THE EXISTENCE OF A GREEN FUTURE, thus, through each of the three conferences, an attempt has been made to present a real industrial case by explaining one of the following three aspects: circular economy, product innovation and re-industrialization.

In particular, Mr. Alfredo Ferre, from RECOVER, explained: “I try to convince the audience that any project can change the world” while he was detailing the way of working with recycled fibers, his point of view, his strategy to reach the final consumer even as a leading textile industry, etc.

The second conference was given by Mrs. Olga Santiago from Vertisol, she explained the journey her company has taken in terms of innovation to reach the top.

The third day of conferences, it was Mr. Abel Ortiz from Textiles Ortiz, talked about how they reacted a year ago when they decided to change and started to produce reusable sanitary materials in that moment of extreme need.

The fourth day ended with a round table led by Mr. Ròmul Prat with the presence of Mr. Abel Ortiz, Rafael Ortiz from AQUACLEAN, Francisco Sans from MASCARILLAS BEJAR and the president, Mr. Carlos Aguilar.

The 3 companies concluded that there is no difference, since the objectives are common for the entire industry sector regardless of their specialty.

Combining with the conferences and the round table, a research poster was exhibited every day, promoting the knowledge transfer between Universities and research centers, as the IQAC-CSIC with the industry.

On behalf of the IQAC-CSIC, Dr. Albert M. Manich presented the work on hemp fibers entitled Projecting a Sustainable Future Learning from the Past: a Contribution of Engineering to the Knowledge of Plant Fibers, where he linked the work made by his grandfather and his father, both textile engineers like him with the current research, proving that the sustainability implies looking to the past to learn to advance towards a green future.
