More than 60 people from 42 different EIT Health partners and third parties from Spain and Scandinavia met last week in Barcelona at the bilateral meeting, organized by these two regional CLCs. This is the second bilateral event organized in Barcelona, the first one took place last June and the invited CLC was the French one. EIT Health has nodes in Spain, France, Uk-Ireland, Belgium-Netherlands, Sweden and Scandinavia. EIT Health Spain, based at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), is made up of 18 organizations: companies, universities, research centers, hospitals and technology centers.
The objective of the meeting, that has taken place in the Barcelona Science Park of the University of Barcelona, is to foster new opportunities and competitive advantages through co-operations in R&D. Attending this B2B event has given participants access to scientists and enterprises actively engaged in EIT Health’s innovation areas.
“This second bilateral meeting experience confirms the usefulness of these activities to foster and enhance synergies between partners of the EIT Health Community. Projects, activities and business ideas that were presented during the meeting confirmed that there is a huge space of cooperation between partners of both CLCs. As Spanish CLC, our intention is to continue these bilateral meeting also during 2017 with the intention to invite all CLCs to visit us to show our potentiality and strengths.”

On Friday, the session has started with the presentation of both CLCs by their directors and, after that, has focused the attention on more than 50 elevator pitches. Partners quickly and briefly introduced their projects with the aim to find potential collaborations. The second part of the session, however, began at noon, when partners who scheduled meetings through the provided matchmaking web application had the opportunity to share their needs and find potential partners for the future.
By the end of the day, partners had participated in more than 90 scheduled meetings, exceeding the expectations defined in the meeting objectives.
