Nano- and microencapsulation consists in the protection of active substances inside nano- and microcarriers. This allows the protection of labile molecules and improve stability, with the aim of transporting them and achieving their controlled release. It is known that the performance efficiency of an active substance increases enormously with its encapsulation, depending on the size of the capsules, their transfer surface and the permeability properties of these capsules. In addition, the capsules can be directed specifically to the interior of an organism, using suitable vectors. For these reasons, currently nano- and microencapsulation is of great interest in many fields and industrial applications.
The objective of this course is to provide attendees with the basic concepts of micro and nanoencapsulation techniques, including fundamentals and preparation methods, as well as new applications in the chemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical fields, among others.
It is aimed at researchers and staff of universities and academic centers (predoctoral students and postdoctoral researchers), who wish to acquire knowledge about the fundamentals and methodologies of nano- and microencapsulation; and also to those responsible and technical personnel (pharmacists, chemists, biologists, engineers, perfumers), who perform functions in the development and control of products to the chemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, and who wish to update their knowledge on the formulation of products .
