The Memory Circuits group, led by Prof. Mazahir Hasan, joins Achucarro

Prof. Mazahir T. Hasan, a senior research scientist coming from Berlin (NeuroCure Cluster of Excellence; Humbolt and Charité) will join Achucarro as from September 1^st, with an Ikerbasque Research Professorships awarded in the 2015 call.

Prof. Hasan will establish a laboratory on memory circuits, with the aim of investigating the role of neurons, glia and the extracellular matrix in learning and memory processes.

The final objective of this group is to achieve a better understanding of learning and memory processes is bound to facilitate the development of novel therapeutic approaches to treat (or even cure) various memory-related brain dysfunctions, such as mental dementia, amnesia and the Alzheimer's disease.
