The researcher María Llorens of the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center will give a session about the brain regeneration during physiological and pathological aging, tomorrow, February 19, at 12 noon, in the auditorium of the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital (HUAV). Llorens has studied the human brain and has confirmed that people generate new neurons throughout life. Her research has had important implications for the study of degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's.

María Llorens has a PhD in Neurobiology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid since 2009. She completed her doctoral thesis at the Cajal Institute, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center and at the University of Tsukuba (Japan). She currently directs her Research Group at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center (CBMSO), where she investigates the generation of new neurons in the adult brain, and the therapeutic potential of this phenomenon in neurodegenerative diseases.

IRBLleida organizes several seminars with external professionals to inform the professionals of the Institute of the investigations that are being carried out. These seminars are taught by leading researchers in their fields of research.
