Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) is since this March, new member of Barcelona Global, a platform with the mission to actively contribute to making Barcelona one of the most attractive cities in the world, in order to attract and develop talent and foster economic activity. As a corporate partner, VHIR can participate and propose projects that improve the competitiveness of the city, especially in the research field.

VHIR’s director, Dr. Joan Comella, points out that “Barcelona Global shares our philosophy of internationalization, because our research is international, as well as most of our partners”. In fact, VHIR publishes all the studies in international journals, and has collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and organisms such as Roche, Sanofi, Bristol-Myers Squibb and EATRIS.

The attraction of talent is also one of the objectives of Barcelona Global and VHIR. “We want Barcelona to be a pole of attraction in research, and for that reason we follow the good practices of the European Union in this field”, claims Dr. Comella. Since 2015, the Institute holds the HR Excellence in Research accreditation. This recognition proves that VHIR endorses the general principles of the European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, and firmly supports its commitment in improving internal policies and procedures.

Barcelona Global is a private, independent, non-profit association, made up of people and companies who care about the city and its future. The experience and expertise of the Vall d’Hebron Campus will be crucial to advance in health projects for the sake of the citizens not only from Barcelona, but from everywhere.
