Bioinformatics Barcelona Association (BIB) has released a new website to boost visibility of the Catalan bioinformatic's potential. The portal has six main sections: BIB partners, such as Mind the Byte; research groups in the fields of bioinformatics, education and training; job offers and internships; news and activities; and a section with specific information on the association itself.

BIB is a non-profit association constituted in 2015. It currently has 40 partners related to the bioinformatics' sector that go from universities to research centres, large scientific infrastructures, companies and other institutions, developing their activity in the areas of health, agrifood and technology.

Bioinformatics is an strategic area of research in which computer science and IT are used to process biological data.

The Association's Board of directors is currently formed by Ana Ripoll (president), Ferran Sanz (IMIM), David Comas (UAB), Alfons Nonell (Mind the Byte), Lluís Tort (UAB), Julio Rozas (UB), Núria Castell (UPC), José Luis Riechmann (CRAG), Luís Serrano (CRG), Josep Samitier (IBEC), Marga Nadal (IDIBAPS), Àlex Sánchez (VHIR), Xavier Martorell (BSC-CNS) and Rosalia Pascual (Esteve).

BIB is also supported by the Government of Catalonia and "la Caixa" Banking Foundation.
