The 2016 Forum of the BioRegion of Catalonia organised by Biocat will take place in Barcelona on 25th November. The Forum of the BioRegion is an event to promote debate and knowledge in the healthcare and life sciences arena, with international experts presenting successful public-private partnership experiences and discussions of where the biopharma, medtech and digital health subsectors are heading.
300 key opinion leaders will be attending the event, which is open to international clusters for the first time. Mind the Byte is supporting this year's forum.
This year's guest speakers are Susan W. Bannister, CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center; Zayna Khayat, director of MaRS Excite; Michael Müller, managing partner at Monacon Beteiligungs GmbH; David Cassak, managing partner at Innovation in Medtech LLC; Vishal Gulati, venture partner at Draper Esprit; Andreu Mas-Colell, president of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), and Josep M. Martorell, deputy director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre.
With a population of more than 7.5 million and territory comparable to that of European countries like Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Israel, Catalonia has the most dynamic life sciences cluster in Spain and one of the most active in southern Europe. Biocat is the public body responsible for promoting the cluster. Moreover, Catalonia is the fourth region in all of Europe in terms of foreign investment attracted in 2015.
