Macroscopically chiral nanospheres and nanotubes composed of helical copolymers have been described in this work (link is external) by Nanobiomol Group researchers F. Freire and R. Riguera, together with Sandra Arias, Julián Bergueiro and Emilio Quiñoá.

The presence of a donor co-solvent either activates or deactivates cation–π supramolecular interactions on the chiral monomers of the copolymer. Those structural changes are transferred to the rest of the polymer chain inducing a selective P or M helical sense through the chiral amplification phenomenon known as ‘Sergeants and Soldiers’ effect.

Nanobiomol has published another results in this area of research in prestigious scientific journals, like The Journal of the American Chemical Society (link is external), Angewandte (link is external) and Chemical Science (Royal Chemical Society) (link is external)what have been highlighted on their covers.
