Since For five years, Parc Taulí has been working on development of the innovative project Pit3D with the aim of designing customized external breast prostheses, custom made by the 3D Laboratory from Parc Taulí, to women with breast cancer who have had to undergo a mastectomy.

The conventional external breast prostheses that these patients can use do not adapt properly to the unique morphology of each woman's breast and have limitations in symmetry, comfort, adaptability, weight and breathability. In order to offer a personalized solution that meets these needs, the I3PT —under the impetus of the nurse Àngels Placeres and the 3D Lab— has developed the Pit3D project.

This year, thanks to the mentoring program of The collider, the project takes a step forward and will be present in 4 Years From Now (4YFN), the benchmark event for the international entrepreneurial ecosystem and which is part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), to connect with investors, professionals and companies interested in transforming innovation into a marketable solution. Specifically, on Tuesday, March 4 (09:00 to 13:00 h) it will be present at stand 8.1 B55, and on Wednesday, March 5 (10:00 to 12:00 h) it will be part of the Collider Innovation Showcase and will be presented on stage, along with other innovative health, industry and technology projects.

A landmark project in 3D

Pit3D —recognized with several awards and grants— exemplifies the potential offered by 3D technology in the healthcare field to offer innovative and personalized solutions that improve patient well-being, and highlights the support from the I3PT to the innovative projects to become solutionss that they reach the market and can benefit as many people and entities as possible.

The I3PT, present at the Mobile World Congress

In addition to Pit3D, The Institute will also participate in the current edition of the MWC with the iNexes delegation of the Health and Social Consortium of Catalonia.

Likewise, in the Catalan Health Innovation Ecosystem Pavilion (Hall 8.0 – 8.0C13) will also be present researcher José Ibeas, a leader in Artificial Intelligence and director of the Health/AI Program with the session “From theory to facts: AI Primary & Secondary Data Management“, I Tesai Care, a spin-off of Parc Taulí that develops heecap, a non-invasive electrical stimulation device to maintain the strength of the respiratory muscles of patients in need of mechanical ventilation support.
